This beautiful, bold vintage Scandinavian Rya rug is a stunning example of mid-century Nordic textile art, featuring a vibrant gradient design in brilliant shades of blue, teal, and indigo. The high-pile wool texture enhances the visual depth and softness, creating a glowing, almost luminous centre that radiates outward to a richly patterned border. Handwoven with precision, this retro Scandinavian rug captures the essence of 1970s design with its bold colour field and abstract geometric frame. Ideal as a statement piece for modern interiors, it adds warmth, texture, and visual impact.

This vintage pile weave dates back to the golden age of Scandinavian rugs. Made over half a century ago, these rugs remain unspoiled to this day thanks to their exceptional quality and design.

The vintage carpet was masterfully handcrafted from the finest wool, using traditional, refined weaving techniques that date back to the Middle Ages.

Its style, Rya, was developed centuries ago in Scandinavia to protect the people, especially the mariners living off the sea, from the severe weather conditions.

Despite its historical heritage, the antique bears an exceptionally modern design, adhering to the aesthetic standards of the 1950s.

We take pictures in natural light to show the most realistic colours possible. Because these rugs are handmade and preloved, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.

Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes are secured, ensuring many more years of life. We also recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. A rug pad also helps protect your carpet from deterioration and extends the life of your rug.

Our rugs are professionally cleaned.

Love it

Delivery was delayed and I had to send a reciept to UPS to have it released. I was never made aware of that. Found out when I called to inquire.

Great rug! Will buy from them again

Beautiful rug! The quality exceeded my expectations, and the colors looked exactly like they did in the photos. The warm neutral tones are perfect, it looks much more expensive than it is, laid flat almost immediately, and adds the perfect amount of texture and character to our entryway

So beautiful

I purchased a pillow and it safely arrived. Much more beautiful than in the photos. Thank you.

Outstanding!

I have had two wonderful experiences ordering from
Vintage Rugs. The pictures online have accurately represented the true colors and characteristics of the rugs. Shipping has been a dream, arriving much quicker than I would have expected. The seller even helped support an inquiry I had regarding my checkout experience and provided quick correspondence. Definitely the only place to go to for unique rugs!

Excellent Source for Vintage and New Rugs

I have purchased from this company a few times and have been very pleased with each purchase. Some purchases have been for me personally and others have been for clients. I highly recommend Shop Vintage Rugs.

The pattern is pretty, and it works where I wanted to put it. But, but, it's very thin and scratchy, and full of a white powder. I expected far better for the price. It is not worth $374.00

Vintage Baloch rug

I love the rug with its sophisticated grid design and use of colors. It enhances the room as I envisioned it would. The photos of it were realistic and its condition was accurately described. The rug arrived in an incredibly short time. It was packaged with care, and it was evident that the sellers take pride in their business. I highly recommend purchasing from them based on my very positive experience.
