This antique Turkoman Bokhara rug features the classic and highly recognisable gul motif arranged in tightly repeated rows across a rich, rust-brown field. Woven by nomadic or semi-nomadic Turkoman tribes, this piece reflects a strong sense of tribal identity through its symmetrical layout, with octagonal guls framed by smaller secondary medallions and finely detailed latticework borders. The colour palette, dominated by deep, earthy, ivory, and touches of indigo and black, enhances the rug's visual rhythm and cultural authenticity. Its precise knotting, soft wool pile, and refined proportions exemplify the craftsmanship of 19th to early 20th-century Central Asian weaving traditions, making it a prized example of Bokhara artistry.
Authentic vintage and antique Turkmen rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
