This striking vintage Persian Gholtogh rug is a testament to the rich weaving traditions of northwestern Iran. Showcasing a commanding geometric medallion centred within a crimson red field, the design is surrounded by a profusion of angular floral motifs and intricate vine scrolls in shades of ivory, deep indigo, olive, and sky blue.
The sharp, stepped edges of the medallion create a dramatic contrast against the fluidity of the botanical ornamentation, lending the piece both structure and vitality. The corners of the field mirror the medallion’s angular form and are elegantly decorated with stylised palmettes and floral sprays.
Framed by a multi-tiered border, featuring a classic Herati pattern and rosettes in alternating tones, this rug blends decorative beauty with regional character. Handwoven with high-quality wool, it offers a dense, durable pile and a richly saturated palette, making it an ideal statement piece for traditional or eclectic interiors.
Authentic vintage and antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.
