This exquisite antique Persian Malayer rug is a striking example of village weaving artistry from western Iran. Its field is adorned with a dense lattice of small boteh motifs, woven in shades of deep indigo and rich madder red, creating a rhythmic and almost textural visual effect. The botehs, symbolic of fertility and eternal life, flow across the field in a mesmerising allover pattern, framed by serrated diamond-like medallions that break the repetition with bold geometric energy.
The border is beautifully articulated with traditional Persian floral and vine motifs, rendered in soft ivory, earthy beige, and muted reds, which provide a luminous frame around the darker central field. Time and age have imparted a graceful patina, softening the palette and lending the rug a rare, understated elegance.
Woven entirely by hand in fine wool, this Malayer rug embodies both durability and artistry, representing the rich weaving heritage of 19th–early 20th century Persia. Its balance of geometric precision and organic flow makes it a timeless collectable, perfect as a statement piece in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Authentic vintage and antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.

Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
