This antique Turkoman Yomut (Yamud) rug is a striking example of Central Asian tribal artistry, known for its fine wool and distinctive geometric patterns. The dark, almost blackish-brown field is filled with a dense lattice of small repeating diamond motifs, each containing subtle blue, ivory, and ochre accents that create a shimmering, jewel-like effect. Framing this central pattern are several narrow borders with zigzag and angular designs and wide, beautifully woven elements (end panels) at the top and bottom, featuring bold stylised tree or arrow motifs in deep red and dark blue. Woven by the Yomut tribes of Turkmenistan, this rug embodies nomadic craftsmanship, prized for its durability, rich symbolism, and understated tribal elegance.
Authentic vintage and antique Yomud Turkmen rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

A rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
