This vintage Turkmen kilim is a striking example of tribal craftsmanship, handwoven in wool with a bold and intricate diamond lattice design. The central field is richly decorated with nested lozenges in vibrant tones of fuchsia, deep indigo, forest green, and brick red, all set against a warm chestnut ground. The geometric motifs are filled with small hooked and “S” shaped patterns, symbolising protection and continuity in traditional Turkmen weaving.
A series of narrow borders frames the composition, echoing the rhythm of the central design with finely detailed stripes and motifs in complementary shades of red, ivory, and dark brown. The overall palette is both earthy and vibrant, achieving a balance that is characteristic of Turkmen tribal textiles.
Flatwoven and durable, this kilim carries the authentic spirit of nomadic life on the steppes of Central Asia. Its rhythmic geometry and bold colour contrasts make it an outstanding decorative textile, suitable as a floor covering, wall hanging, or collector’s piece.

Our kilims are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grip back to keep your rug in position and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
