This exquisite textile is a vintage Indian Jamawar silk shawl, traditionally used as a sari or draped garment. Rich in colour and craftsmanship, it features a radiant red and magenta palette with intricate floral and paisley motifs woven throughout. The central field showcases alternating stripes with delicate floral buta patterns. At the same time, the border is adorned with densely packed paisley designs, reflecting the classic Jamawar style, which is rooted in Mughal-era opulence.

Loom woven from fine silk, this piece embodies luxury and heritage, often prized for its elaborate jacquard-style craftsmanship. The warm tones and regal patterning make it a statement textile ideal for collectors, fashion designers, or interior decorators seeking a touch of South Asian elegance.

Authentic vintage and antique Indian textiles are often loom-woven or handwoven using silk or cotton. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

Our textiles are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
