This charming Shiraz rug from Persia features a bold tribal composition centred around a large dark charcoal diamond medallion set against a rich madder-red field. The central motif features stylised floral and geometric forms, while smaller scattered tribal motifs fill the surrounding field, giving the rug a lively, spontaneous character. A contrasting ivory serrated border frames the composition, complemented by deep burgundy and dark geometric details along the outer edges. Hand-knotted in wool, the slightly irregular drawing, richly saturated colours, and softly aged pile reflect the distinctive character of traditional Shiraz tribal weaving, creating a compact, highly decorative piece with warmth and authenticity.
