This piece is a traditional Turkmen tribal saddle bag, likely Baluch or Ersari, made with hand-knotted wool pile on the front and a flatwoven wool back, featuring three connected pockets once used to drape over pack animals; each bag face is decorated with rich geometric medallions and layered borders in deep natural-dye tones of indigo, madder red, ivory, and warm browns, with visible original connecting loops between the sections and charming irregularities that reflect its nomadic, utilitarian origins and give it the warm, time-softened character of an older, authentically woven tribal textile.
