This vintage Indian mirror textile is a captivating hand-embroidered piece made from cotton and floss silk, showcasing the vibrant artistry of traditional Indian craftsmanship. The textile features a grid of meticulously stitched square panels, each filled with intricate floral and geometric motifs in warm tones of coral, red, saffron, and subtle green. Interspersed throughout are tiny hand-set mirrors, or shisha, which catch the light and add a shimmering, decorative dimension. The embroidery is done with silk floss, creating a soft sheen that contrasts beautifully against the matte cotton base. Likely used as a decorative wall hanging, dowry cloth, or ceremonial cover, this piece reflects the cultural richness and textile heritage of Gujarat or Rajasthan. Its detailed handwork, radiant palette, and mirror embellishments make it a timeless and visually striking artefact for collectors or interior decorators.

Authentic vintage and antique Indian textiles and embroideries are handwoven with cotton. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
