This remarkable antique Persian Lavar Kirman Late 19th century has a deep blue field
and vine design within a ten stepped border, which is rare to find, various shades of blue,
grey, gold and green are marvellously spread throughout the scroll vines and classic
Persian motifs, Shah Abbas reportedly gave Kirman rugs embroidered with gold and
Silver threads are a tribute to the Ottoman Court during the sixteenth century.
These magnificent masterpieces became famous throughout Western Europe and from the
sixteenth-century onwards, the city of Kirman was known for *vase* carpets, a term
deriving from the depiction of vase motifs.
Antique Persian Kirman of this period, especially the Lavar, are known for their fine weave, intricate drawing and unique colours.
