This gorgeous antique Caucasian Cloudband wool rug, showcasing a bold tribal design rooted in the mountainous regions of the South Caucasus. The rug features three large octagonal medallions with striking "cloudband" motifs swirling, bracket-like elements reminiscent of stylised clouds rendered in ivory, terracotta, and indigo blue. These motifs are ancient symbols often linked to celestial and protective themes in Caucasian weaving.
Set against a vivid royal blue field, the medallions are flanked by smaller geometric elements and angular floral forms, adding balance and rhythm. The central medallion is more complex, with a stepped cruciform shape accentuated by small hooked details and checkerboard accents.
The border is framed with a classic Caucasian pattern of alternating ram's horn motifs and diamond medallions on an ivory ground, surrounded by thin guard borders filled with running hooked motifs.
Handwoven with lustrous wool and natural dyes, this rug is a fine example of Caucasian craftsmanship. Its dynamic composition and saturated palette make it both a collectable antique and a powerful visual statement for any interior.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.
