This vintage Persian Bakhtiyari rug is a striking example of tribal artistry, showcasing a bold central medallion surrounded by intricate floral and geometric motifs set against a soft crimson field. The design radiates from a cream-toned centrepiece, framed by angular corners and stylised palmettes in rich navy, coral, and soft ivory tones. True to Bakhtiyari tradition, the rug features strong symmetry and a structured layout, bordered with repeating floral vines and abstract elements that add rhythm and movement. Handwoven with high-quality wool, it reflects the cultural depth and craftsmanship of the Bakhtiyari tribes of western Iran, making it both a decorative treasure and a durable, timeless piece.

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
