Agra rugs are celebrated for their breathtaking botanical patterns, embodying the lushness of Oriental gardens and their vibrant fauna. This remarkable Agra carpet most likely belonged to a mighty Maharajah.
In its primary field, mythical birds of paradise soar among many flowers and tree branches. The design showcases four pairs of cypress trees and four single cypress trees, symbolising everlasting life. While often tied to rituals for the deceased, the cypress also signifies the eternal life that follows.
The equally stunning borders, embellished with more botanical motifs and mythical birds, create a magnificent sense of symmetry. The beautiful colour palette, featuring rich tones of teal blue, olive green, caramel, beige, blue, and purple, harmonises perfectly with the intricate motifs. This Agra rug remains in excellent condition, with a soft and luminous pile, promising to inspire and serve its owners for generations.
Authentic antique Indian Agra rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grip back to keep your rug in position and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
