This is a magnificent, large, palace-sized antique Indian Agra rug, a true testament to the grandeur of 19th-century Indian weaving. Its luminous golden saffron field bursts with an intricate allover design of scrolling vines, delicate floral sprays, palmettes, and rosettes, crowned by a central medallion in deep reds and blues that anchors the composition with regal balance.
The wide, multilayered borders are richly adorned with geometric floral patterns and repeating rosettes, adding depth and framing the field with architectural precision. The sheer scale of this rug, combined with its fine weave and rich natural dyes, speaks of a time when Agra carpets were woven for royal courts and palaces, meant to fill vast spaces with opulence and warmth.
This piece is not just a floor covering; it's a sweeping work of art alive with history, craftsmanship, and the echoes of Mughal splendour.
Authentic antique Indian Agra rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.
