This vintage Turkmen silk embroidered coat is a traditional Central Asian garment, notable for its deep burgundy silk fabric with subtle vertical stripes and a contrasting teal-green lining adorned with swirling patterns. The open-front robe, with wide sleeves and a straight silhouette, is richly detailed with hand-stitched embroidery in geometric floral motifs along the edges, cuffs, and circular medallions at the sides. The intricate designs in shades of yellow, orange, purple, and white reflect Turkmen craftsmanship, symbolising cultural identity and artistic expression. Likely from the mid-20th century, this coat blends elegance with heritage, representing the ceremonial attire of Turkmen tribes, in which silk and vivid colours denoted status and vitality.

Authentic vintage and antique Turkmen ceremonial clothing are hand-woven with silk and cotton. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

Our textiles are professionally cleaned and restored, ensuring they live for many more years.
