This exquisite vintage Kalaga elephant tapestry is a stunning piece of Burmese textile art, handcrafted with rich cultural symbolism and intricate detail. At its centre stands a regal white elephant, adorned in ceremonial trappings and intricately embroidered with gold and copper threads, symbolising strength, wisdom, and prosperity. Surrounding the elephant are twelve circular medallions, each depicting mythical animals, celestial beings, and traditional dancers all hand-stitched on luxurious black velvet and embellished with sequins and beads. The ornate gold-embroidered border, framed in dark brown fabric with loops for hanging, adds to its grandeur. Traditionally used in royal courts and sacred spaces in Myanmar, this tapestry is more than just a decorative piece; it’s a celebration of heritage, artistry, and spiritual richness.
Authentic antique and vintage Burman textile tapestries are handwoven with beads, silk, velvet and metal thread. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
