This vintage Baluch rug is a striking tribal piece, featuring a bold lattice of diamond-shaped medallions set against a warm, earthy red-orange field. The stepped outlines of the diamonds, done in deep brown and ivory, create a rhythmic, geometric pattern that draws the eye inward. Surrounding the central design are multiple narrow borders filled with traditional Baluchi motifs—hooked shapes, lozenges, and stylised floral elements—rendered in rich tones of crimson, black, and faded rose. Handwoven with soft wool, this rug showcases the characteristic rustic charm, durability, and nomadic artistry of Baluchi weaving, making it a beautiful statement piece for any bohemian, eclectic, or earthy interior.

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
