This vintage Persian Hamadan hallway rug is a striking runner, rich with rustic charm and vibrant detail. It features a deep brown field adorned with a vertical chain of angular medallions, geometric floral rosettes, and stylised leafy motifs in magenta, pink, green, and soft gold shades. The design is framed by a narrow, repeating border of hooked motifs, enhancing the overall symmetry and elongating the rug's visual flow, ideally suited for a corridor or narrow space. Handwoven by village artisans in the Hamadan region of western Iran, this rug showcases the sturdy wool pile and bold tribal aesthetic typical of Hamadan weaving, blending tradition with a lively, colourful personality.

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
