This is a vintage Persian Tabriz rug, known for its fine craftsmanship, detailed patterns, and elegant, sophisticated appearance. This piece has a soft, muted palette of pale beige, cream, and faint gold tones. It gives it an aged, almost ethereal look with a subtle all-over floral and medallion design that gently fades into the background. The intricate floral vines, palmettes, and delicate border motifs are characteristic of Tabriz weaving, though here they appear worn and lightly distressed, adding to the rug's vintage charm. Tabriz, one of Iran's most renowned weaving centres, is famous for producing high-knot-count rugs with exceptional precision and artistry.

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
