This vintage Baloch bag face rug, handwoven from wool by tribal weavers of Afghanistan and eastern Iran, features a rich red central field with a bold geometric medallion framed by ivory and deep brown latch-hook motifs, surrounded by cross-like forms and enclosed within a deep indigo border with zigzag patterns and an outer meander design in camel tones; originally part of a nomadic storage bag, it retains its kilim ends and fringe, showcasing the weaver’s cultural heritage, natural dyes, and bold symmetrical design from the mid-20th century.

Authentic vintage and antique Balochi rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to these rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grip back to keep your rug in position and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
