This antique Caucasian Shirvan wool rug is a beautifully composed piece, featuring a delicate palette of taupe, ivory, and soft brown tones, accented with subtle hints of orange, ochre, and charcoal. The field is arranged in a tight, geometric layout, filled with stylised floral rosettes, branching motifs, and angular tribal emblems, all enclosed within a finely detailed grid structure.
The main border, rendered in ivory, displays a rhythmic series of octagonal medallions, rosettes, and latticework motifs, framed by narrow guard stripes with serrated leaves and vine patterns in muted hues. The inner border, finely executed, contains a meandering vine with small stars and blossoms, enhancing the piece’s decorative charm.
Woven with naturally dyed wool, this Shirvan rug embodies the precision and artistry characteristic of the Eastern Caucasus weaving tradition. Its refined scale, restrained colour scheme, and balanced design make it an ideal addition to traditional, rustic, or contemporary British interiors, adding both warmth and historical character.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.

Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
