This is a vintage Scandinavian Rya loom rug, known for its luxurious, long-pile texture and soft, cosy feel. The design features a central medallion surrounded by geometric motifs, arranged in a layered pattern of rectangles and ovals. The colour palette is a soothing blend of icy blues, soft greys, creams, and hints of earthy browns, with delicate touches of green adding subtle contrast. The shaggy, almost fur-like pile gives the rug a striking dimensionality, making it both a decorative and tactile piece. This rug reflects the classic Nordic aesthetic of the mid-20th century, combining modernist geometry with the warmth of traditional craftsmanship.

The vintage carpet was masterfully hand-loomed with the finest wool, following traditional and refined weaving techniques, and reached the Middle Ages.

Its style, Rya, developed centuries ago in Scandinavia to protect people, especially mariners living off the sea, from severe weather conditions.
