This vintage Turkoman Soumak kilim rug, handwoven in wool, features a striking and bold geometric composition typical of Central Asian tribal artistry. The design is structured around repeating circular medallions, each enclosing powerful cross-like motifs rendered in black, red, ivory, and turquoise shades. These medallions are arranged in neat vertical rows and framed by a richly patterned field filled with stylised eight-pointed stars and ram's horn motifs, ancient symbols of strength and protection.
Executed in the Soumak flatweave technique, the rug's surface has a robust texture with fine weft-wrapping that adds both visual and tactile depth. The natural wool fibres give it a rich, earthy tone, while the vibrant palette energises its tribal identity. Decorative and durable, this kilim is a striking example of traditional Turkoman textile heritage and nomadic symbolism.
Authentic vintage and antique Turkoman kilims are handwoven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to these rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. A rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
