This vintage Fulani textile from Mali showcases an advanced reinterpretation of the classic indigo and white checkerboard motif. Crafted from finely woven cotton, it displays a distinctive mix of oxidised black and white background with a red, grey, and orange weft float patterns dispersed over the white. These types of pieces were initially designed as a wedding hanging. It reflects the Fulani weavers’ creative modernisation of traditional designs and remains in excellent, complete condition.
