Size: 3.7 x 1.6 ft.

Origin: Scandinavia

Circa: 1950s

Material: Pure Wool

This woollen vintage Scandinavian textile is a striking example of mid-century Nordic design, characterised by its bold geometric motifs and vibrant colours. The textile features a rich blue ground that serves as a backdrop for a central diamond medallion, intricately woven in earthy tones of beige, black, and rust, with stepped edges and flanked by small accent shapes.

The upper and lower borders display a repeating pattern of stylised shapes resembling linked shields or medallions in rust, beige, black, and cream, adding a rhythmic visual anchor to the composition. Black horizontal bars are symmetrically arranged across the field, contributing a sense of structure and balance.

The tapestry’s flatweave technique and clean, graphic lines reflect the Scandinavian appreciation for craftsmanship, simplicity, and natural materials. This piece would make a beautiful statement as a wall hanging, runner, or decorative textile, adding a touch of vintage Nordic charm and artistry to any space.

Authentic antique and vintage Scandinavian textiles are hand-embroidered with cotton, metal thread and wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

Our textiles are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
