This is a vintage small Baluch wool rug, handwoven by Baluch nomads using handspun wool and featuring bold tribal geometry in deep, earthy tones contrasted with vivid magenta. The central field displays repeated eight-pointed dark brown and black star motifs against a striking magenta ground, framed by multiple borders with symbolic patterns such as stepped crosses and zigzags in shades of black, ivory, and soft purple. The outermost band includes small rectangular wool patches and visible stitched repairs, enhancing its timeworn character. A worn area near one corner reveals the underlying foundation, adding to its authentic charm and making this compact rug a richly textured piece of tribal heritage.
Authentic vintage and antique Balochi rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
