This beautiful "akhnif" is a unique type of burnous, or hooded, woollen cloak exclusively crafted by the Ait Ouaouzguite (Wawzgit) people in the Sirwa region of the High Atlas Mountains. The striking red oculus design serves as a powerful protective motif. These garments are meticulously woven in one piece on a vertical loom by Amazigh (also known as Berber) women and are traditionally worn by men.

Authentic vintage and antique Moroccan kilims are handwoven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the' handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.

Our kilims are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life.

Our kilims are professionally cleaned.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
