$337 $448

Size: 3.10 x 2.10 ft.

Origin: Bolivia

Circa: 1950s

Material: Wool & Cotton

This wool and cotton vintage lliklla shoulder textile is a fine example of Andean weaving, traditionally worn by women in the highlands of Peru and Bolivia. Woven on a dominant black ground, it is decorated with horizontal bands of geometric motifs in gold, red, and ivory tones. The repeating diamond and zigzag patterns carry symbolic meanings, often associated with fertility, protection, and harmony with nature, reflecting the cultural depth of Andean textile traditions.

The mix of wool and cotton lends the piece both durability and softness, making it suitable for both daily wear and ceremonial use. With its bold yet refined composition and time-worn patina, this lliklla serves not only as a garment but also as a cultural artefact, equally suited for display as a decorative textile or treasured as part of a collection.

Authentic antique and vintage Bolivian textiles are handwoven with wool and cotton. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

Our textiles are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
