$200 $266

Size: 3.3 x 1.10 ft.

Origin: Ecuador, South America

Circa: 1980s

Material: Pure Wool

This vintage Ecuadorian wool tapestry is a beautifully handwoven piece that depicts a rustic mountain village landscape, characteristic of Andean artistry. The design features snow-capped peaks, rolling hills in earthy tones of brown, green, and grey, and a cluster of brightly colored houses in shades of orange, red, and pink, creating a striking contrast against the natural backdrop. Woven with hand-spun wool using traditional flatweave techniques, it embodies the cultural heritage of Ecuadorian weavers who often portrayed their natural surroundings and daily life through textile art. With its warm colours, geometric abstraction, and folkloric charm, this tapestry is not only a decorative textile but also a cultural narrative, making it a vibrant statement piece for wall display or interior accent.

Authentic vintage and antique South American tapestries are hand-woven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.

Our tapestries and kilims are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life.

Our kilims are professionally cleaned.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
