The field is filled with a dense diamond grid, each compartment containing stylised boteh (paisley) motifs, rosettes, and cross-like forms. The colour palette is a harmonious blend of soft terracotta, deep plum, ochre, ivory, and indigo dyed from natural sources and aged into a mellow, timeworn beauty.
True to the Marasali weaving tradition, the composition is meticulously symmetrical and tightly knotted, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of weavers from the Shirvan region. The field's layout not only reflects aesthetic discipline but also a deep-rooted symbolic language tied to fertility, protection, and continuity.
The borders are equally compelling: a wide main band features alternating geometric and zoomorphic motifs, most notably stylised birds and rams rendered in alternating colours, evoking themes of nature and tribal identity.
