This vintage Scandinavian Rya rug is a minimalist mid-century wool piece featuring a soft, abstract composition in warm neutral tones of beige, camel, cream, and chestnut brown. The freeform design flows organically across a pale background, showcasing the refined elegance and texture-rich quality of the traditional Rya high-pile weaving technique. Ideal for modern, bohemian, or Nordic-inspired interiors, this rug serves equally well as a stylish floor piece or as a wall-mounted textile artwork.
The vintage carpet was masterfully hand-crafted with the finest wool, following traditional and refined weaving techniques, and dates back to the Middle Ages.
Its style, Rya, was developed centuries ago in Scandinavia to protect the people, especially the mariners living off the sea, from severe weather conditions.
Despite its historical heritage, the antique bears have an exceptionally modern design that is settled in the aesthetic standards of the 50s.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
