Modern Afghan SHIRVAN KILIM 5' x 3'4"

$265 $352

Size: 5 x 3.4 ft.

Origin: Afghanistan

Material: Pure Wool

This modern Afghan Shirvan kilim is a bold and vibrant flatweave that celebrates traditional Caucasian design with a contemporary twist. Its field is arranged in a series of diamond medallions, each filled with stepped motifs in vivid shades of turquoise, terracotta, emerald green, burnt orange, and ivory, creating a dynamic rhythm of color and geometry. The background is softened with earthy olive and plum tones, adding balance to the composition. The borders frame the rug with alternating hooked and triangular motifs in deep indigo and ivory, lending a strong tribal presence and grounding the overall design.

Handwoven in wool using time-honored flatweave techniques, this kilim is durable, lightweight, and versatile perfect as both a functional floor covering and a decorative textile. Rooted in the Shirvan weaving tradition yet reimagined by Afghan artisans, it infuses interiors with warmth, energy, and cultural authenticity.

Authentic, modern, and contemporary Afghani kilims are handwoven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible.

Our kilims are professionally cleaned.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
