This beautiful antique South Caucasian hallway wool rug is a richly detailed and visually dynamic piece, woven in the early 20th century. Its elongated form and rhythmic geometry make it an ideal fit for narrow spaces, while its vibrant colours and symbolic patterns bring character and warmth.
The deep chocolate brown field is filled with a vertical chain of diamond medallions, each nested with intricate lozenge and cross motifs in shades of crimson, ivory, soft aqua, and rust. These medallions are flanked by small checkerboard filler motifs that enhance the overall texture and visual flow of the rug.
Framing the field is a beautifully drawn border featuring stylised floral and serrated leaf motifs in an alternating red, ivory, and blue palette. Guard stripes with geometric vine patterns and small hooked rosettes complete the composition with balanced structure.
Handwoven with high-quality wool and naturally dyed pigments, the rug exudes both tribal energy and elegance. It’s a striking piece of South Caucasian textile heritage—perfect for adding depth, history, and visual drama to any hallway or transitional space.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
