This antique Kurdish hallway runner rug is a bold and charismatic example of tribal craftsmanship from the rugged regions of the Kurdish highlands. Characterised by its powerful geometric language, the rug features a series of large octagonal medallions in fiery terracotta and deep indigo, arranged along a central axis and filled with charming latch-hook motifs and symbolic tribal forms.
Framing these medallions are intricate Greek key borders, jagged guard stripes, and small rosettes in a vibrant palette of ivory, saffron, midnight blue, and rust red. The outer border showcases a zigzag vine scroll against a soft ivory background, adding rhythm and definition to the composition.
Woven from coarse, hand-spun wool with natural dyes, this runner embodies the raw beauty and cultural essence of the Kurdish weaving tradition. Its elongated shape and rich colour story make it a perfect statement piece for entryways, corridors, or alongside a long dining table, bringing warmth, heritage, and powerful tribal character into the home.
Authentic vintage and antique Kurd rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grip back to keep your rug in position and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
