This antique Caucasian Kazak rug features a bold and dynamic tribal design, showcasing a series of large, octagonal medallions stacked along a vibrant red field. Each medallion bursts with intricate geometric motifs, stylised crosses, and hooked forms, rendered in striking shades of deep blue, ivory, green, and soft coral. The surrounding field is filled with small scattered motifs, including diamonds, rosettes, and ram's horn symbols, adding texture and movement to the composition. The rug is framed by a charming floral border with alternating rosettes and stars on an ivory ground, enhancing its tribal charm. Woven with lustrous wool and robust construction, this Kazak exemplifies the rich artistic traditions and bold colour palettes of 19th-century Caucasian village weavings.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
