This beautiful vintage Northwest Persian Kelleh wool rug is a commanding piece that blends tribal geometry with rustic elegance. Its elongated format is ideal for corridors or large transitional spaces, and it features three boldly drawn medallions arranged vertically along a deep crimson field. The medallions, rendered in a dramatic palette of charcoal, rose, rust, and golden ochre, are stepped and stylised, surrounded by angular floral and symbolic motifs that suggest protective and spiritual meaning.

The field is framed by an ivory border filled with a continuous procession of geometric rosettes and tribal emblems in saturated hues, providing vivid contrast and balance. Hand-knotted from high-quality wool, the rug features a soft, worn texture and a robust structure, characteristic of the skilled weaving traditions of Iran’s northwestern regions. This Kelleh rug is both decorative and durable, bringing heritage and richness to any setting.

Authentic vintage and antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.

Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.

Our rugs are professionally cleaned.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
