This vintage Persian Bijar hallway rug is a superb example of the durability and intricate craftsmanship that define rugs from the Bijar region, often referred to as the "Iron Rugs of Persia." Likely woven in the mid-20th century, this long and narrow runner features a refined, classical design ideal for corridors, stairwells, or entryways.
The rug's rich ruby red field is densely populated with a delicate Herati pattern composed of stylised floral rosettes and curving vine scrolls meticulously arranged to create a visual tapestry of symmetry and elegance. Three finely drawn central medallions in diamond form add rhythm and structure to the field, each filled with floral bouquets and framed by scrolling arabesques in navy, ivory, and rose.
The main border features a deep indigo ground adorned with an elegant palmette and vine motif, flanked by complementary guard stripes with intricate rosettes and leaf forms. This multilayered border ensemble gives the rug a regal, architectural frame.
