This antique Caucasian Kazak tribal rug is a bold and striking example of mountain weaving tradition, celebrated for its strong geometric forms and vivid colour palette. The design centres on prominent hooked medallions in ivory and deep indigo, set against a glowing red ground, with striking arrow and latch-hook motifs adding tribal symbolism and energy. Smaller geometric devices, such as stars, diamonds, and ram's horn motifs, are scattered across the field, enhancing its lively, dynamic character.
The border frames the composition beautifully, featuring a rhythmic sequence of stylised rosettes and angular vine patterns in shades of red, blue, ivory, and touches of green. Woven with hand-spun wool and natural dyes, the rug offers a rich, tactile texture and vibrant sheen, embodying the rugged spirit and artistic heritage of 20th-century Caucasian tribal craftsmanship.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
