This antique Caucasian Kazak rug is a bold and vibrant example of tribal artistry, characterised by its striking geometric composition and vivid natural dyes. The rug features three large, stepped diamond medallions running down the centre, each filled with small hooked motifs and star-like forms, set against a rich red ground that radiates warmth and energy. Deep blues, soft greens, ivory, and touches of gold provide dynamic contrast, highlighting each medallion's crisp outlines and intricate interior detailing.
The surrounding field is framed by a lively border of stylised animal and geometric figures on an ivory band, enclosed by additional floral and vine guard borders in shades of blue and red. Woven with hand-spun wool and dyed with vegetable colours, this rug showcases the robust texture and glowing sheen typical of 20th-century Kazak village weaving, making it a practical textile and a striking piece of cultural heritage.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
