This exquisite antique Timuri Baluch tribal rug is a soulful expression of nomadic craftsmanship, steeped in history and symbolism. Handwoven by the Timuri tribes of western Afghanistan and eastern Iran, this piece radiates earthy elegance through its rich, naturally dyed palette of deep browns, madder reds, indigo blues, and ochre tones softened beautifully with age.
The rug’s field features a striking vertical layout of stylised “tree of life” or “mushwani gul” motifs, elongated medallions that suggest fertility, growth, and tribal identity. The geometric border frames the composition with a bold array of repeating hooked motifs and stepped triangles, adding structure and tribal resonance.
Woven from fine wool with a tight, resilient weave, this rug is prized for its refined tribal aesthetic and subdued patina that develops over time. A true collector’s piece, it brings warmth, history, and texture to interiors rooted in authenticity and global character.
Authentic vintage and antique Balochi rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
