This is a vintage tribal Balouch rug, instantly recognisable by its bold, rustic charm and dense, repeating geometric motifs. The deep red field is packed with stylised tree or shrub-like figures, alternating with diamond-shaped and hooked patterns in dark indigo, brown, and black, creating a striking visual rhythm. The narrow border frames the piece with a repeating meander and floral motif, adding structure to the composition. Woven by the Balouch nomadic tribes of eastern Iran or western Afghanistan, this rug showcases their signature earthy palette, natural wool, and slightly coarser, handmade texture, reflecting utilitarian and artistic traditions passed down over centuries.
Authentic vintage and antique Baloch rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to these rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grip back to keep your rug in position and smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. A rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
