This beautiful vintage Persian Malayer rug is a timeless example of village weaving, celebrated for its artistic charm and individuality. Woven in the late 19th to early 20th century, it features a soft, timeworn palette of earthy reds, muted greens, and deep indigo set against an aged patina that speaks to its history. The field displays stylised floral and vine motifs arranged in a vertical medallion-like layout, balanced by a geometric border of repeating diamond and rosette forms. Characterised by its fine hand-knotting and natural dyes, this vintage Malayer rug embodies the elegance and depth of Persian craftsmanship, making it both a collectable piece and a versatile decorative element that brings warmth, texture, and heritage to any space.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
