This vintage German hook rug is a beautifully crafted piece that reflects a blend of European decorative sensibility with Orientalist influences. Featuring a prayer niche (mihrab) design at its centre, the rug showcases delicate floral motifs, stylised vines, and a central bouquet in soft tones of rose, ivory, moss green, and muted gold. The intricate hooked construction lends it a subtle, raised texture, while the ornate border, filled with rosettes and scrolling foliage, adds richness and refinement. Created likely in the early 20th century, this rug served as a decorative accent, possibly inspired by the aesthetics of Turkish or Persian prayer rugs.
