This antique Baloch tribal rug is a striking example of nomadic craftsmanship, woven with deep cultural symbolism and earthy elegance. Its design features a prayer niche (mihrab) structure, distinguished by a pointed arch and central column motif filled with intricate, repeating tree-like patterns. The rich palette dominated by deep indigo, rust red, camel, and ivory lends warmth and depth to the composition. Surrounding the central field are a series of finely patterned borders with angular tribal motifs and stepped diamond forms, all meticulously handwoven in wool. Characterised by tight knotting and soft pile, this rug embodies the artistic heritage of the Baloch tribes of eastern Iran or western Afghanistan, making it a profoundly personal and collectable piece of textile history.
