This extraordinary vintage Persian Shiraz Qashqai rug is a striking example of tribal artistry, handwoven by nomadic weavers of southern Iran. The rug features a bold composition with two stepped diamond medallions anchored on a rich terracotta field, filled with symbolic motifs and stylised floral forms. Each medallion, rendered in deep indigo with ivory and saffron accents, radiates geometric precision and visual depth.
The field is alive with a profusion of tribal elements, rosettes, botehs, and abstract animal-like figures woven in a lively palette of rust, navy, ivory, ochre, and touches of soft green. These motifs are more than decorative; they echo the Qashqai people's deep connection to nature, storytelling, and spiritual symbolism.
The border is equally compelling, framed by a classic "running dog" motif on an ivory ground, flanked by secondary guard borders that echo the angularity of the central design. The overall effect is dynamic yet balanced, capturing the energy and authenticity of nomadic craftsmanship.
Woven in high-quality wool with natural dyes, this Qashqai rug is not only a visual treasure but a tactile one rich in texture and saturated with tradition. Its bold geometry and warm hues make it a timeless centrepiece for both traditional and modern interiors.
Authentic vintage and antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.
Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.
