This exquisite antique Persian Malayer rug showcases the refined artistry and nuanced colour palettes that define village weaving traditions of western Iran. The field features a beautifully stylised boteh (paisley) motif, arranged in a diagonal lattice pattern, symbolising growth and fertility. The soft rose-pink ground offers an elegant backdrop for the earthy tones of rust, navy, forest green, and ivory that infuse the pattern with subtle contrast and rhythm.

Framing the composition is a richly detailed main border adorned with bold rosettes and angular floral elements, set against a rust-red background. Flanked by guard borders with zigzag vines, the framing adds depth and structure, balancing the intricate inner field.

Hand-knotted in fine wool, this Malayer rug is prized for its durability, detailed craftsmanship, and harmonious aesthetic. Its time-softened palette and balanced geometric composition make it a captivating choice for collectors and connoisseurs of antique Persian textiles.

Authentic vintage and antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.

Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.

Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug.

Our rugs are professionally cleaned.

It’s 1990 all over again!

In the early 1990’s, my wife I were obsessed with hand woven, vegetable dyed Turkish carpets from Azeri/Woven Legends. We spent so much time at ABC Carpet & Home in NYC, we became good friends with the head rug buyer!! We haven’t purchased a rug in years, but I found a wonderful Woven Legends carpet at Shopvintagerugs and bought myself an early birthday present. The rug was shipped from Pakistan on Monday, made its way to Dubai, then Boston, Memphis and finally arrived to us today. I couldn’t be happier!
