This petite and exquisite antique Persian Afshar Neriz wool rug is a remarkable example of tribal artistry from southern Iran. Hand-knotted by Afshar weavers, this rug showcases a bold, geometric central medallion with intricate latch-hook motifs and stylised floral elements, set against a soft terracotta background. The surrounding indigo corners are richly patterned with diamond and boteh designs, lending depth and contrast. A finely drawn ivory border, adorned with rosettes and meandering vines, frames the composition beautifully.
Woven with hand-spun wool and dyed in natural vegetable colours, the rug reflects both durability and vibrant charm. Its compact size makes it versatile, perfect for adding character to intimate spaces such as an entryway, study, or beside a bed. The combination of earthy reds, deep blues, ivory, and subtle green accents embodies the timeless aesthetic of Afshar weaving. At the same time, the balance of geometry and folk motifs conveys the distinct cultural heritage of the Neriz region.
Authentic vintage and antique Persian rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.
